Just Married LETTER for Silver_Queen_DoS

Hi writer! Thanks for writing for me! Please feel free to take as much or as little from this letter as you desire, I'm simply trying to ramble about what I like and maybe give a few ideas.

Feel free to mix and match prompts however sparks your inspiration! Some prompts are longer than others, which is mostly just a matter of what I can think of as I'm writing this letter — not an artefact of how thrilled I'd be to receive it!

In general, I really like fix it fics! I like Canon Divergence AU's and what-if's. I'm a sucker for 'Everyone Lives' changes and saving characters that get a bad end in canon. Time travel is great, either peggy-sue mental time travel or full on moving through time style (even in canons with no canonical basis for time travel!).

DNW: Non-con between requested pairings, unhappy endings, humiliation/embarrassment squick, on-screen underage

General Likes:

— Fix it fics! Time travel, canon divergence, what-ifs. Crossovers that result in new characters helping out and solving problems/being outside-context-problems.

— Friendship, teamwork and battle-couples. I love seeing people be competent and dangerous and work together to be even better than they could be alone. Loyalty and trust (or characters who don't inherently trust each other working closer towards it).

— Worldbuilding! Magic or game-mechanics woven into the plot and narrative, or used for everyday tasks.

— Intimacy/affection. Handholding. Touch starved characters getting some love. Forms of address based on closeness of characters.

— Arranged or political marriages. Love might or might not be a factor, but the pressure of external forces is more so.

— Get together. I like to see how characters come together when it's not a canon relationship — part of the fun is seeing how and why it happens.

Aloy is very focused on her mission, so I think it would take a big push for her to consider any kind of relationship – and what ‘marriage’ looks like might differ pretty wildly across the various different clans!

Amnesia! They're out in the middle of nowhere together and can't remember why. Somehow the logical explanation is that its for romantic reasons? (I would like the amnesia to be temporary/resolved eventually)

Life debt! Aloy saves a lot of people, after all. How does it count, does she accept it?

Is Aloy the criminal? An Outcast who marries Varl to become a member of the Nora tribe? Did she cross the Tenakth somehow and Kotallo steps forward to help her? Did Nil get discovered by the Tenakth and it’s Aloy that steps forward to drag him out of trouble? Did Nil get in more trouble in Meridian and she’s helping him (maybe someone did take exception to all the bandit hunting, after all)?

Marriage to cover a bigger secret – maybe Aloy has to lie low for a while because she’s blown up an enemy base / gotten injured and clearly the best way to do that is for them to pretend to be married.

Soulmark and Hanahaki are both very interesting to me – the pining and the journey of discovery! I like soulmarks that aren’t immediately obvious, matching patterns, words that aren’t immediately obvious etc. Aloy is always driven to search for answers but may not like what those answers are.

This is kind of a theoretical ship, given that they never interact in the anime, but they're from the same place, roughly the same age with the same purpose and goals… did they never interact in Hidden Mist? Were they on total opposite sides of the 'oppose Yagura' debate?

I'd love to see something dealing with the politics of moving against Yagura. Maybe they team up and have to convince their respective followers that, no really, this is a good idea. Maybe that requires a political marriage to tie them together publicly <strike>so that if one goes down they both go down, no betrayal here.</strike> Or maybe Zabuza's assassination attempt wildly succeeds and now he's the Mizukage — does Mei oppose him too or does she decide to get good with the new Mizukage and steer Hidden Mist where she wants it to go? How does Mizukage Zabuza manage?

Or maybe Hidden Mist got into the whole matchmaking thing, the equivalent of putting two suspicious ninja into an enclosed space to duke it out and distract them from forming rebellions?

(I'm always happy for people to write DoS fic, so if that's where you want to take it, I'd be perfectly happy to accept that!)

James Norrington/Elizabeth Swann (PotC)

Arranged Marriage - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse

They were canonically engaged! I would super love anything that followed through with that. Maybe the Black Pearl stuck around on Isle de la Muerta and rescued Jack (or he escaped, or the Governor pardoned him) so there was no hanging to avert. Or maybe Elizabeth never fainted in the first place. Maybe Norrington picked a different location to propose.

Or maybe something later in the series – maybe Norrington didn’t take the heart in DMC, maybe AWE ended differently and they get a second chance. Maybe one (or both!) of them are aboard the Flying Dutchman. Maybe there’s another Revive The Dead quest/magic.

I like that they seem to have a long history with each other, that when they forget the very proper attitudes of society, they have wicked banter and seem to be friends.

I like that Weatherby Swann is the OG shipper and seems entirely delighted to have Norrington be part of the family. (Possibly to the point of arranging things?)

I like that Norrington is already head over heels in love with her, but that Elizabeth is more cautious and pragmatic – if not ruthless about her choices – while at the same time being hot headed and passionate. I love would pining/slow burn while she slowly catches feelings.

If you’re someone who Knows Things about the Age of Sail, I’d be delighted with accurate historical fact – what would Elizabeth get up to as a wife of a Commodore? – but if you’re like me and have only a Disney movie, a handful of tumblr posts and enthusiasm to go on, I don’t mind/would hardly notice anachronism and going by what the movies gave us.

These are all great canon divergence prompts that I could see leading to a marriage. CotBP and Elizabeth’s connection to pirates provide plenty of scandal fodder – and reason she might wind up in jail and in need of rescue.

Which of them believes they’re fatally ill? How? Why does marriage look like a good solution? Inheritance? Family? A final request? What’s the reaction like when they survive? (Obviously not all, or even any, of these questions need be answered, but I do find the set up to be just as interesting as the actual relationship in question).

For the pregnancy tag, I’m opting into any previous relationship that would result in said pregnancy, though I would like the focus of the fic to be on the requested relationship.

(I would prefer LWW/Golden Age Chronicles of Narnia, while the Pevensie’s are Kings and Queens, but if you want to set it in other times/places, that’s perfectly fine!)

I love the clash between the Narnia fantasy narrative and GoT's subversions of the tropes, but basically I love Sansa and just want her to have nice things.

Maybe she gets rescued from Kings Landing by them, or winds up magically in Narnia — maybe it's later in the series where she's desperately looking for allies and there they are? Maybe Winterfell has always kind of had a diplomatic connection with Narnia and Robb calls them up when he goes to war? Maybe Rickon winds up in Narnia instead of Skagos and Sansa has to go and get him back?
